Low Vision Disorders
Low vision refers to significant visual impairment that cannot be fully corrected with regular glasses, contact lenses, or standard medical or surgical treatment — yet still leaves the child with some useful residual vision that can be maximised with the right support. It remains a significant and often under-addressed area of pediatric eye care across India.
Our approach to low vision in children focuses on a detailed assessment of exactly what the child can and cannot see, followed by practical rehabilitation strategies — including magnification aids, adapted lighting, and guidance for parents and schools on classroom accommodations — to help the child make the most of their functional vision. We also work closely with families to set realistic expectations and connect them, where appropriate, with special education resources and support networks.
