Squint
Squint, medically known as strabismus, is a condition where both eyes do not align in the same direction at the same time — one eye may turn inward, outward, upward or downward while the other looks straight ahead. It can be present from birth or develop later in childhood, and is sometimes constant, sometimes noticeable only when the child is tired or focusing on something up close.
At Kids Eye Consult, every squint evaluation begins with a detailed assessment of how the eyes move together, how well each eye focuses, and whether there is an underlying refractive error or other cause contributing to the misalignment. Contrary to common belief, not every squint needs surgery — in many children, glasses alone, patching therapy, or targeted eye exercises can correct or significantly improve alignment. Where surgical correction is genuinely needed, Dr. Gupta explains the procedure, expected outcomes and recovery in detail before proceeding, so parents feel fully informed at every step.
